The Textiles and Clothing Fund is the largest in the museum and has preserved one of the richest collections of traditional costumes from different ethnographic regions in Bulgaria. It includes urban clothing in the ala-franga style and underwear, the appearance of which is also connected with city fashion.   According to their size and purpose, the rest of the cultural properties are divided into two large sections – large-format (carpets, rugs, felts, mattress fabrics, quilts) and small-format (towels, tablecloths). The dated and inscribed carpets from the middle and end of the 19th century bring great pride to our institution. Over the years, the Clothing and Textiles Fund has been the subject of several research studies and publications and an important resource for educational programs. It is the basis of many exhibitions presented both at home and abroad.
