European Night of Museums
The Regional Ethnographic Museum – Plovdiv will again participate in the European Night of Museums. This year we have prepared for you an unforgettable experience – we will share with you the first “steps” of our new audio guide “Shepard and Bride”.
What do the Institute of Mathematics and Informatics – BAS and the Regional Ethnographic Museum – Plovdiv have in common? What is the commonality between mathematics and ethnography? The teams of the two institutions developed a joint conceptual project for a digital itinerary “Shepherd and Bride” in the museum, which is applicable for both blind people and the general public. This “roadmap” goes through eight of the exhibition halls and talks about the love between two young people during the Revival period in Bulgarian history. The unknown histories of the objects included in the itinerary are curious – the kyustek (men’s chain jewellery), hearth, Jerusalemia, pafti, musical instruments, zaraflatsi (needle lace), etc.
When you scan the QR code on each of the eight signs, you will discover the secrets of the exhibits that will “tell” you their stories. They are also accessible to blind people thanks to Braille.
The ethnographers and mathematicians were joined by journalists from Radio Plovdiv, who professionally sounded the digital museum route “Shepherd and Bride”.
— In addition to our event, you will be able to enjoy the Wine and Gourmet Festival, organized by the Plovdiv Tourism Board, where we will be one of the locations.
During the Night REM – Plovdiv will be open for visitors after working hours from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. with free entrance.
We look forward to seeing you!
