BLACKSMITHING AND COPPERSMITHING HALL
These are two of the well-developed and important crafts in the Plovdiv region. Since ancient times, blacksmiths have been revered as demiurges, because through fire and water, they manage to master the metal and give it the desired shape. They make the tools for the craftsmen of many trades, as well as the sturdy implements for agricultural labour, and in troubled times they forge the weapons.
Through beautiful and durable products, coppersmiths create cosiness in the home. Their cauldrons, teapots and dinnerware are among the most common and desired wedding gifts because they bring the wish for permanence and longevity to the young family. Inscribed food vessels of various guilds, dated the 18th century, have been preserved to this day in the museum.
