On March 27-28 will be held a scientific conference with international participation “The magic or the belief in supernatural” at the Regional Ethnographic Museum – Plovdiv. It is dedicated to the 10th anniversary of the death of Assoc. Dr Nikolay Kolev – the founder of the Tarnovo Ethnographic School, which produced hundreds of specialists working in scientific institutes, universities, museums, etc. The theme of the conference is focused on the study of the supernatural and the corresponding magical beliefs and practices that have accompanied humanity from prehistory until this day. Of course, the question of the place and role of magic in Bulgarian folk culture will be at the centre of the said research.
Over 40 researchers, representatives of various universities, scientific and cultural institutes, national and regional museums, schools, etc., will attend the conference.
The collected studies will be printed in a scientific edition, taking part in the series “Annual Yearbook of the Regional Ethnographic Museum – Plovdiv”, Vol. 8.
