Musical Iconographers at REM - Plovdiv

A series of concerts titled “Musical Iconographers” will be presented by the mandolin quintet “Seasons.” The events will take place at the Regional Ethnographic Museum – Plovdiv and are part of a project under the “Dissemination” program, supported by the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Bulgaria.

The first concert will be held on February 21 at 6:00 PM. The quintet will perform works by César Franck, Filippo Gragnani, Dmitri Shostakovich, and the internationally renowned Bulgarian composer Rossen Balkanski. During the performance, the musical imagery will be transformed into watercolors by the prominent Bulgarian artist Rumen Statkov.

The mandolin quintet “Seasons” is a chamber ensemble that has established itself as one of the most interesting and unconventional formations on the Bulgarian music scene. Founded in 1996 initially as a quartet, the group today brings together distinguished musicians, combining the timbres of mandolin, classical guitar, clarinet, and cello into a rich and memorable sound. In their performances, “Seasons” build a bridge between the Bulgarian traditions of guitar and mandolin artistry and the highest contemporary European standards of chamber music performance.
