On May 15, 2025, at 18:00, the Regional Ethnographic Museum – Plovdiv invites the public to an exciting encounter with the textile heritage of Bulgaria – the exhibition”A(live) from Fabric”, dedicated to the masterful craftsmanship of Kotel carpets and the transformation of a home craft into an art form.

Intertwining colors, symbols, and personal stories, this exhibition tells the story of women who do not just weave – they preserve memory, create culture, and pass on knowledge. The exhibition features carpets from the museum’s collection and private collections, revealing the richness and depth of this tradition, passed down through generations.

The exhibition is part of a project funded by the Ministry of Culture and is accompanied by a rich program of creative workshops, educational modules, book presentations, and concerts. Special attention is given to the younger audience with activities such as coloring templates with carpet motifs, puzzle making, reading fairy tales, and dyeing with natural dyes.

“A(live) from Fabric” shows that a carpet is not just an object – it is cultural memory woven in color and thread. This is an exhibition to experience – with the eyes, with the hands, and with the heart.

The exhibition will be on view until September 30, 2025.
