On International Museum Day – May 18, we are especially happy to share yet another prestigious recognition for our newest exhibition, “The World of the Iron”!

On the eve of the museum celebration, the Bulgarian National Committee of the International Council of Museums (ICOM) awarded the Director of the Regional Ethnographic Museum – Plovdiv, Assoc. Prof. Angel Yankov, PhD, for achievements in museum practice, cultural heritage management, and museum communication in connection with the project “The World of the Iron”.

This recognition comes only a month after the exhibition — realized thanks to the generous donation of artist Dimitar Dobrev — received the “Museum of the Year” award in the “Heritage” prizes presented by the Association of Bulgarian Museums.

Among the other ICOM award recipients for scientific, educational, and public contribution to museology in 2025 are:

Prof. Nikolay Nenov, Director of the Regional History Museum – Ruse;

Assoc. Prof. Sonya Penkova, PhD, Director of the National Museum of Military History – Sofia, recognized for her overall contribution and leadership in museum work.
