Regional Ethnographic Museum – Plovdiv invites you to the traditional crafts guild celebration of St. Spyridon
On December 12, 2024 (Thursday), at 10:30 AM, the Regional Ethnographic Museum – Plovdiv, in cooperation with the Regional Chamber of Crafts – Plovdiv, the Guild of Masters of Folk Arts and Crafts – Plovdiv, and the Association “Friends of the Regional Ethnographic Museum – Plovdiv”, has the pleasure of inviting you to the festive commemoration of St. Spyridon – the patron saint of craftsmen. A traditional crafts ritual originating from the Bulgarian National Revival era will be reenacted in the museum`s courtyard. Known as the “Day of the Masters”, this celebration highlights the significance of traditional crafts as being a fundament of our cultural heritage.
Program:
• Festive procession through the streets of the Old Town – 10:30 AM (starting from the courtyard of the museum ).
• Solemn liturgy at the Church of the Holy Mother of God – 11:00 AM.
• Craftsman dedication ceremony (testerlik) – awarding master craftsman certificates to new masters at the museum – noon.
This celebration is a tribute to St. Spyridon and the spirit of the guilds whose artistry and craftsmanship have preserved Bulgarian traditions over the centuries.
