Exhibit of the Focus: 19th Century Silver Chalice and Lecture "Church Utensils – Glory and Utility"

On April 1st at 5:30 PM, we invite you to the next edition of our “Exhibit of the Focus” series, where we will present a valuable artefact – a 19th-century silver chalice from the “Ascension of Christ” Church.

🔹 Lecture by Father Emil Paralingov

The event will be accompanied by a special lecture by Father Emil Paralingov – head of the icon repository and museum collection at the Plovdiv Metropolitan. The topic of the lecture is:

📖 “Church Utensils from the 19th Century: Glory and Utility.”

🔹 The History of the Chalice

The chalice, part of the collection of the Regional Ethnographic Museum – Plovdiv, not only impresses with its exquisite craftsmanship but also holds a significant place in the history of the Sofia “Ascension of Christ” (Holy Savior) Church, which was destroyed during the Anglo-American bombings in 1944.
