TRADITIONAL CRAFTS WEEK
24.06.2024 (Monday):
• 12:30 p.m. : Official opening of the XVI edition of the Traditional Crafts Week at REM – PLOVDIV
• Music and dance greeting from FTA “Iglika” at the Center for Support for Personal Development – ODK, Plovdiv
• Celebration of Midsummer Day (Enyovden) – a revered day in the folk tradition related to herbs and healing. We will make wreaths and sing bunches with Enyova’s bride. A story about the power of herbs by Maria Georgieva – a master of natural healing creams
• 6:00 p.m. : Opening of the national exhibition “Bulgarian Felted Textiles – A Message from Antiquity”
25.06.2024 (Tuesday):
• 11:00 a.m. : Demonstration of felting with the ancient “Dance of the Moth” by István Vidák – a famous Hungarian carpenter and explorer-traveler
• Demonstration of spinning and felting using Bulgarian technology by Svetlana Kamps
26.06.2024 (Wednesday)
• 11:00 a.m. : Demonstration of felting with master Marieta Nedkova
• 11:30 a.m. : Music program with children from the ensemble “Maritza” at Sofia University “St. Cyril and St. Methodius” in Plovdiv
27. 06. 2024 (Thursday)
• 11:00 a.m. : Demonstration of felting with master Penka Stavreva
• 11:30 a.m. : Music program with children from the folklore ensemble “Thracian Youth” at “Lyuben Karavelov” Secondary School, Plovdiv
28. 06. 2024 (Friday)
• 11:00 a.m. : Demonstration of felting with master Spaska Georgakeva
• 11:30 a.m. : Music and dance greeting from FTA “Iglika” at the Center for Support for Personal Development – ODK, Plovdiv
29. 06. 2024 (Saturday)
• 11:00 a.m. : Demonstration of felting with master Vanya Terzieva
• 11:30 a.m. : Music program
• 12 p.m. : Celebration of St. Peters` Day – a feast for the guests with the traditional dishes: a St. Peters` chicken, bread with colorful salt, “white man”, apples and pears.
• 7:30 p.m. – Masters` evening – distribution of certificates for participation and a brief overview of this year’s Crafts Week, a Masters` feast, and entertainment.
P. S. During the Traditional Crafts Week (June 24 – 30), the museum will work with extended working hours every day from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.
